Statement 1 is correct: In the exercise of its jurisdiction, the Supreme Court has the power to pass any decree, or order for doing complete justice. Under Article 129, the Supreme Court is a court of record and can punish for contempt of itself. In 1991, (Delhi Judicial Service Commission Case) the Supreme Court ruled that it has the power to punish for contempt not only of itself but also of high courts, subordinate courts and tribunals functioning in the entire country.

Statement 2 is incorrect: Under Article 143, the President has the power to consult the Supreme
Court on any question of law and fact. Such advice tendered by the Supreme Court is non
binding on the President.

Statement 3 is incorrect: Under Article 145, the Supreme Court has the power to make rules for
regulating the practice and procedure of the court.
